Michigan science and engineering students won a $15,000 NASA grant for research to help astronauts stay alive on future missions to space.

Missions which may include exploration of the moon and Mars.

The system could also prove useful for waste management systems here on Earth.

Local 4's Andrew Humphrey talks with the winning students.
